This competition is being organized by Cubing Club at UCLA. All UCLA students may register free of charge (though if you wish to pay anyway, the money will go towards this and future cubing club events). Simply register via the link on the left and include in the comments that you are a UCLA student, but do not pay. Your registration will be manually approved shortly. You will need to show your Bruin card at the competition.
All other competitors must pay the $14 registration fee, also via the link on the left. Your registration will be manually confirmed after you pay, so it may not show up immediately. Please contact the organizers if your registration still hasn't shown up after several days.
There will be a competitor limit of 100. You must register online before registration closes; there will be no walk-in registrations. Spectators may attend for free.
For those of you new to cubing, WELCOME!
We wanted to let you know this event is perfectly fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete...
First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations.
Of course, those regulations contain a lot of legalese, so we have a video made specifically for new cubers, just to show them the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know.
Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete.
Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!
Q: What is the competition like?
A: Competitions are a bunch of tables where nerds like us get to sit and discuss our favorite thing, cubes! Of course in addition there is competing, which will occupy one side of the competition hall, where you will see lots of timers flickering with contestants new personal bests. Most competitions have a break for lunch, and the competing is split up into heats, as to better organize who competes when. (There will be an email shortly before the competition with more information about this.)
Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to Cubecomps.com to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events.
Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: Filling out the initial registration form is not enough to show up on the registration list. You must also pay the registration fee (unless you are a UCLA student). Registrations are approved manually after payment has been received, so it may take a day or so to show up on the list.
Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete in the same group.
Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: HECK YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!
(Groups are now posted, and can be found in the GROUPS tab. Please know your groups for each event, as we will only be calling groups numbers, and not names.)

A map of parking structures located on campus. Parking structures P8 and P4 are located close to the venue, and the cost for 1 day of parking is $12. A list of parking costs for all parking structures, and how to pay. For additional assistance, stop at an information and parking booth. Alternatively, consider busing to campus. There are several bus routes which arrive here. Consult google maps for options.
The venue is Kerckhoff Grand Salon. Kerckhoff is located beside Ackerman Union, to the south of parking structure P4 on the map. See also google maps for directions. Approach the building from the east side, and it will be on the south side of the area filled with tables and chairs, opposite Kerckhoff Coffee House.
There are several places to get lunch on campus walking distance. Most of these can be found in Ackerman Union, which is the building right beside the venue (between P4 and P9 on the map). Depending on how many competitors register and if we have enough money to cover it, we may provide lemonade and/or some minor snacks after lunch.
The top three in each event will receive certificates, and prizes will be provided by speedcubeshop!
